Spouse Visa For Canada

Move to Canada to Reside with Your Family

Do you want to bring your dependents to Canada as a citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a work permit? The Canadian government permits eligible individuals over the age of 18 to sponsor dependent spouses, children, parents, partners, and grandparents to live with them in Canada in order to promote family cohesion. Seven Seas Immigration and Education Services offers specialized Canada dependent visa services that can facilitate your family reunion.

Dependent Visa for Canada

With a Canada Dependent Visa, you can bring your dependents into the country and, after they have the necessary documentation, they can work or study full-time. You may sponsor any of the following relatives for a dependent visa under the Canada Dependent Visa program:

  • Your companion in marriage, common law, or cohabitation.
  • Dependent children up to 21 years old.
  • Reliant grandparents or parents.
  • A child you adopted outside of Canada when you were a permanent resident or citizen of Canada.
  • Your sister, brother, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, or other close family members.

You are able to live in Canada with the relationships you sponsor. To work in Canada, your spouse or conjugal partner may also apply for a work permit.

Eligibility requirements to sponsor a dependent

  • To take part, you have to be older than eighteen.
  • You have to be a citizen or a long-term resident of Canada.
  • Unless you have a disability, you shouldn't be receiving government assistance.
  • You have to meet the requirements for low income.
  • You need to be legally married to your spouse.
  • Real relationships are necessary with your dependents.

Documents required for Canada Dependent Visa

  • Travel history and passport details
  • Records demonstrating background
  • Documentation for a partner or spouse, like a marriage license
  • Additional proof of a connection
  • The sponsor needs to present evidence of income in order to show sufficient finances.
  • Fees for consultations and a filled-out application

Eligibility requirements to sponsor a spouse

  • To join, you must be at least eighteen years old.
  • Once your spouse or partner becomes a permanent residence, you must either live in Canada or make plans to return.
  • You have to be willing and able to provide for your partner's or spouse's basic needs financially for the next three years.
  • Your partner must be enrolled in the family class in order for you to sponsor them. You need to be a citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a work visa in order to sponsor your spouse.
  • You and your spouse need to be in a genuine relationship that wasn't created purely for immigration purposes. There must be a minimum of one year in your relationship.

Child visa to bring dependent children to Canada

Sponsors are able to bring their children into Canada with the dependent visa:

  • Adopted outside of Canada while the sponsor was a citizen or lawful permanent resident of that nation
  • The child they plan to adopt from Canada
  • Sponsor's sibling, niece, nephew, grandson, or granddaughter, if they are eligible and are an orphan

Eligibility conditions for child visa:

  • The child must not have a common law or conjugal partner, nor be older than 22 years old.
  • The sponsor's biological child or adopted child must be the dependent child.
  • The child must demonstrate that he is financially reliant on the sponsor or parent.
  • There is no age restriction on requesting sponsorship for dependent children who are incapable of supporting themselves because of a medical or mental condition.
  • Proof of the sponsor's relationship with the dependent children must be provided.
  • The sponsored children need to provide documentation proving they are not the subject of any active criminal cases in addition to undergoing a medical examination.
  • The doctor performing the examination needs to be authorized by the Canadian government.

Eligibility conditions to sponsor a dependent:

An individual must submit documentation to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) detailing his financial situation for the previous year in order to sponsor a Dependent Visa for entry into Canada. This will make it easier for the authorities to assess if the sponsor can adequately provide for all of the members, including his dependent children.

Documents Required

The documentation required for sponsoring a dependent under the Canada Dependent Visa includes:

  • Passport & travel history
  • Background documentation
  • Spouse/partner documentation including marriage certificate
  • Other proof of relationship
  • Income proof of sponsor to show adequate finances
  • Completed application & consulate fees
